Do I need to book activities in advance, or can I book when I arrive?

Accepted Answer

Lake trips, elephant experiences, and jungle camping require booking in advance. For other activities, pre-booking is appreciated but not required.

Question 3

Is breakfast included at Our Jungle House?

Accepted Answer

Package bookings include all meals. Room-only prices do not include breakfast. However, we have a full-service onsite restaurant open from 7:30am to 8:30pm every day.

Are there restrictions for small children?

Accepted Answer

Children 4 years and younger are not advised to join overnight lake trips. We do suggest the Full Day Lake Tour for families with younger children, however as these are joined trips, and families may feel rushed. Please contact us for details.

Question 5

We are travelling to Khao Sok with small children, are we able to do the lake trip?

Accepted Answer

In general, yes, however joining a group tour means you must follow the pace of the group, and this can possibly feel too rushed for families with younger children. Please keep in mind that we always recommend Private Trips for families, especially with younger children. Please be advised to bring your own child’s life jacket or arm bands for your trip.

I am travelling to Khao Sok by myself, can I still join lake tours, hikes and other activities?

Yes, Our Jungle House offers most of its tours on a join-in/shared basis for solo travellers. Please let us know at your earliest convenience so that we can join you with one of our group tours. Both the Full Day and Overnight lake tours are suitable for solo travellers, but please note that a single surcharge applies to single-room arrangements.

How do I make a reservation?

Can I pay our remaining balance by credit card?

Accepted Answer

If needed, credit card payments are accepted with applicable surcharges. Payments made through our online payment gateway, Flywire, are subject to a 3% surcharge . Payments made by credit card machine at the resort are subject to a 4% surcharge to cover banking and processing fees. Guests with a Thai bank account can also make payments via mobile banking.

When do I pay for additional services?

Additional services, such as tours, transfers, or other fees, are to be processed and settled at reception upon check-out only. If asked by a supplier to pay directly, please inform the hotel team immediately.

How can we pay at Our Jungle House?

Accepted Answer

Please note that Khao Sok is a primarily cash-driven area, and we kindly ask for cash payments at the resort whenever possible. Due to our remote location, we rely on cash to pay our guides and local suppliers. For your convenience, there’s an ATM on our property. While we do accept Euros and US Dollars, please note that a commission is applied on top of the exchange rate to cover the cost of transportation to the nearest bank, which is located a considerable distance away. If needed, credit card payments are accepted with a 3% surcharge. Guests with a Thai bank account can also make payments via mobile banking. All rooms are equipped with a safety deposit box for your peace of mind.

Why is there a fuel surcharge on lake tours?

Due to a significant increase in fuel prices in Thailand, influenced in part by global supply conditions and ongoing international developments, a temporary fuel surcharge has been introduced for our lake tour operations. This allows us to continue providing safe, reliable, and high-quality experiences without compromising our service standards. Effective immediately, the following surcharge applies to individually booked Cheow Lan Lake tours and package arrangements: THB 350 per person for overnight lake tours THB 250 per person for lake day trips Children (4–10 YOA) receive a 50% discount, while infants (0–3 YOA) are exempt from these charges. We have made every effort to keep this adjustment minimal and truly appreciate your understanding as we adapt to rising operational costs. Thank you for your continued support.

Yes, we can provide a baby seat or a child seat. Please let us know your requirements when you make your reservation.

What is the closest airport to Our Jungle House?

Accepted Answer

Surat Thani Airport is the closest to Khao Sok and Our Jungle House, about 1 hour 45 minutes (106 km) away. Krabi Airport, 155 km away, takes only about 30 minutes longer and offers more domestic and international flight options. Phuket Airport is 139 km or roughly 2.5 hours away, with convenient connections to a wide range of destinations.

I am travelling from Bangkok, what is the best way to get to Khao Sok?

Accepted Answer

The easiest and most convenient way from Bangkok to Khao Sok is either fly to Surat Thani Airport or take the train to Phunpin Station (Surat Thani Train Station). There are also night buses direct to Khao Sok. You can find detailed instructions here .

Can you arrange to pick up from the Khao Sok bus stop on Highway 401?

Unfortunately, we are unable to arrange a pick-up from the Khao Sok bus stop. However, there is a taxi service available from the bus stop to Our Jungle House. The taxi fare ranges from 50-80 Baht per person.

What is the Check-in and Check-out time at Our Jungle House?

Check-in is from 2:00pm onward. Check-out is at 11:00am. If you plan to arrive after 8:30pm, please inform us in advance.

After my stay, how can I get to Koh Tao, Koh Samui or Koh Pha Ngan?

Accepted Answer

The last ferries to Koh Tao, Koh Samui, and Koh Pha Ngan depart Surat Thani by 4:00pm. If you are leaving from the resort, we can arrange a shared van or a private vehicle to take you to the ferry pier. If your tour ends with a lake trip, our private transfer is the only reliable option to reach the pier on time. We'll collect your luggage and pick you up directly from the Cheow Lan Lake pier.

Can we walk to Khao Sok village or is it too far?

We are located 900 meters from the village. It is walkable and takes approximately 15 - 20 minutes.

What's the Weather like in Khao Sok?

The weather is warm, humid, and lush year-round, with frequent rain starting in May until mid-end of October. Thanks to the surrounding forest, temperatures often feel 5–10°C cooler than in other parts of Thailand. Pack light, breathable clothing and rain gear.

Yes, Khao Sok is a very safe place for tourists. You should always be mindful of your belongings and take common sense precautions. Take extra care on the lake and in the National Park.

What medical facilities are available?

Basic first aid is available at Our Jungle House, and the nearest clinic is just minutes away. For serious care, hospitals are in Phuket or Surat Thani. Bring essential medications, as local pharmacies are limited. While rooms lack fridges, we can store baby food, medicine, or snacks in our kitchen fridge upon request.

Is there phone signal or internet coverage in Khao Sok National Park?

Areas into Khao Sok National Park and Cheow Lan Lake do not have internet coverage or 4G networks past the park headquarters entrance. Many floating bungalows and deeper parts of the lake have little to no cell signal. Some areas near the lake edge or along certain tour routes might get signal from a specific provider if there's a nearby tower, but it's inconsistent. There is no service in much of the park's interior or on hiking trails. Tips for planning: Download offline maps (Google Maps, Maps.me, etc.) before you go.

Are there leeches in Khao Sok?

Leeches and other small parasites are commonly found during rainy season on many forest trails, but rest assured they are entirely harmless. However, their bites do cause slight bleeding for about 15 minutes. There are no leeches around Our Jungle House, but if you are going hiking during the rainy season, check with the staff or your hiking guide about the best way to keep them off.

We have a gravel, uncovered parking area located before the reception area. Upon arrival, please drive to the reception area to unload your luggage and check in then park in the parking area.

What are the restaurant hours and do you cater to dietary requirements?

Our Jungle House Restaurant is open daily from 7:30am to 8:30pm, serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner in a relaxed jungle setting. We offer a diverse menu with Thai and Western dishes, and gladly cater to vegetarian, vegan, and other dietary requirements—just let our staff know your preferences.

Do your rooms have Wi-Fi or Phone Signal?

There is Wi-Fi in the common areas of the resort but not in the rooms. Mobile phone signal is fairly consistent throughout the property.

What to bring to Khao Sok?

Accepted Answer

We recommend bringing lightweight clothing, comfortable walking shoes, swimwear, insect repellent, sunscreen, a reusable water bottle, and a rain jacket—especially during the wet season. Don't forget your camera, a flashlight or headlamp for jungle walks (also available at reception), and any personal medications you may need. A small daypack is useful for tours and hikes.

Are pets allowed at Our Jungle House?

Unfortunately, pets are not allowed. Due to the surrounding rainforest and abundant wildlife, we aim to maintain a peaceful environment and minimize disturbances to nature, other guests, and your pet.

Are there monkeys at Our Jungle House?

Accepted Answer

Certainly! As we are located close to the National Park, Macaque monkeys are almost resident on our property. We ask you not to feed the monkeys at the resort and urge you to keep your distance. Please close your doors and windows during dawn and dusk hours as Macaque monkeys pay frequent visits and very much enjoy our guests' food and toiletries. Do you have special arrangements for Christmas and New Year?

There is a festive menu and activities for Christmas and New Year. Please contact our reservations for menu and pricing. Be aware that there is no such arrangement at Cheow Lan Lake—if you require Christmas or New Year celebrations you must book overnight at Our Jungle House only.
