In 2017, we visited Khao Sok village and the stunning national park. It was so good 6 years later we returned.

Khao Sok National Park is one of the most stunning parks in Thailand. It is in the South next to Khao Sok Village and is known for its beautiful rock formations, pristine jungle and floating raft houses. Visiting this place will give you the experience of a lifetime. Our Jungle House is the ideal resort to select for your national park excursions. The staff will help you organize your entire trip and they offer a 3-day 2 night package with overnight tour to the floating bungalows! We would love to tell you more about our experience in this article.

Back in 2017 we already knew that we would come back. 6 years later we were finally able to get back to Thailand and visit again. While searching for unique and beautiful Khao Sok accommodation, we found Our Jungle House. We absolutely loved the idea of connecting with nature and staying in one of their unique treehouses.

The Accommodation

The resort has 3 different accommodation types: Treehouses, Big Treehouses and Bungalows. We stayed in one of the biggest treehouses. It had two floors, what a dream! Who didn’t dream of a big treehouse in their backyard when they were younger? Our bedroom was very spacious and had everything you needed for a pleasant stay.

The treehouses are made from locally sourced materials, and the rooms are beautifully decorated with furniture made of natural elements. The room is up in the tree’s canopy. You feel that you are very close to nature.

Although perfectly private, the bathroom was quite open. It feels like you are showering right in the surrounding jungle!

The treehouses have a big balcony, where you can relax when the weather is good. Unfortunately, we had a lot of rain during our stay, so we could not use it as much as we would have liked.

The location

Our Jungle House is surrounded by nature and right next to the Sok River. However, it is only a 12-minute walk to the village of Khao Sok. You can find some basic restaurants and shops in the village, but there is really no need to leave the resort. Our Jungle House has a beautiful bar and restaurant where you can order from a large selection of tasty drinks and meals.

Overnight tour in the Khao Sok National Park

We had a two-night stay at Our Jungle House. In between these two nights we had an overnight tour visiting the Khao Sok National Park. This is a special experience you can book at Our Jungle House.

Day 1

On the first night we enjoyed our beautiful room and the peaceful nature of the resort. We went for a walk along the river, and into Khao Sok Village to get some essentials for our overnight tour to the national park.

Day 2

The next morning, we were picked up by a minivan in the early morning to drive us to the national park. The staff of Our Jungle House made sure we could leave our luggage safely at the resort. Leaving our big backpacks felt very safe and we were happy to only bring a small backpack each for the lake adventure.

  • The ride to the national park will take about an hour.
  • The route is super scenic, and you can really enjoy the beautiful landscape from the van.
  • At the entrance to the park, everything was taken care of by our driver.
  • Our company of about 10 other people boarded a long-tail boat which took us deep into the lake.
  • We passed the most scenic rock formations we have seen in all our four-month Asia trip.
  • After sailing through all this beauty for about 40 minutes we arrived at what would be our camp for tonight.

It is good to note that you won't have internet service during your stay on the lake. The guides all have satellite phones with them in case of an emergency.

The floating bungalows

On arrival we were shown to our room. Inside we had:

  • Electric power
  • A fan
  • A two-person bed
  • A lockable cage

Very primitive, but that's part of the experience! In front of these huts were kayaks that we could use in our spare time. However, plenty of activities were planned, such as:

  • A jungle hike
  • A night safari and
  • Cave exploring
Sitting on the lake
Kayaking on the lake

Our guide knew so much about the environment and could spot the wildlife from miles away. We learned a lot about surviving in the jungle and the animals that lived there. During the first safari, we even spotted a group of wild elephants with a young calf. It was amazing.

Back at the camp dinner was served. The food was great, and the atmosphere was so nice with all the wonderful people we had just met that same morning. It almost felt like a dream.

Day 3

The next day, we had one more safari in the early morning.

  • You are free to join on all the excursions or not. It’s up to you.
  • If you are not a morning person, this would probably be the time to sleep in!

We did go on safari, and it was magical. The whole jungle was still asleep. The mist lowered over the lake, and we glided through the water with our engine off. So cool!

After the safari we had lunch on our way back to Our Jungle House. Here we could reflect on the overwhelming experience of Khao Sok National Park. We were lucky enough to sleep one more night in our treehouse.

We will never forget this experience. It is in our top 5 of things to do when you are visiting Asia. Make sure to book your stay at Our Jungle House for an amazing experience!
