In 2017, we visited Khao Sok village and the stunning national park, it was so good 6 years later we returned

Khao Sok National Park is one of the most stunning national parks in Thailand. It is located in the Southern part of Thailand next to Khao Sok Village. Our Jungle Camp is the ideal accommodation to stay during your trip to the national park. We would love to tell you more about our experience in this article.

In 2017, we visited Khao Sok village and the stunning national park. Back then, we already knew that we would come back. 6 years later we were finally able to fly back to Thailand and decided to visit Khao Sok again. While searching for unique and beautiful accommodations, we found Our Jungle Camp. We absolutely loved the idea of connecting with nature and staying in a unique room like a treehouse or a earthhouse.

The Accommodation

The resort has 4 different accommodation types: The earthhouse, a bungalow, a small treehouse, and a bigger treehouse. We stayed in the biggest treehouse. You’ll find the treehouses at the back of the resort. Our treehouse had two floors, what a dream! Who didn’t dream of a big treehouse in their backyard when they were younger? Our bedroom was very spacious and it has everything you need for a pleasant stay.

The treehouses are made out of bamboo, and the rooms are beautifully decorated with furniture made out of natural elements. The treehouse is actually open from the inside, so that you can feel that you are close to nature.

The bathroom in the treehouse is even more open, so it feels like you are showering in the open jungle!

The treehouses have a big balcony, where you can relax when the weather is good. Unfortunately, we had a lot of rain during our stay, so we could not use the balcony.

The location

The resort is located in Khao Sok Village, directly next to the river. The resort is completely surrounded by nature. However, a 12 minute walk takes you to the center of the village. You can find some basic restaurants and shops in the village, but there is no need to leave the resort when you stay at Our Jungle Camp. The resort has a beautiful bar and restaurants where you can order a various amount of meals.

Itinerary & Overnight tour in the Khao Sok National Park

We had a two night stay at Our Jungle Camp. In between these two nights we had an overnight tour visiting the Khao Sok National park. This arrangement is a special expierience you can book at Our Junge Camp.

Day 1

The first night we could enjoy our beautiful room and the peaceful nature at the resort. We went for a walk along the river and we walked to the Khao Sok Village to get some essentials for our overnight tour to the national park.

Day 2

The next morning we got picked up by a minivan in the early morning to drive us to the national park. The staff of Our Jungle Camp made sure we could leave our luggage safely at the resort. Leaving our big backpacks felt very safe and we were happy to only bring a small backpack per person.

The ride to the national park will take about an hour, but the route is super scenic and you can already enjoy the beautiful landscape from the van. Once we arrived at the entrance of the park, everything was taken care of by our driver. With us was a company of about 10 other people. We had to get in a long-tail boat which took us deep onto the lake past the most scenery rock formations we have seen in all of our four month Asia trip. After sailing through all this beauty for about 40 minutes we arrived at what would be our camp for this night.

It is good to note that you won't have service during your stay at Khao Sok national park, but the guides will all have satellite phones with them in case of an emergency.

So, after about 40 minutes we saw the cute little bamboo huts. In these huts we had power, a fan, a two person bed and a lockable cage. Very primitive, but that's part of the experience! In front of these huts were kayaks that we could use in our spare time. However, plenty of activities were planned, such as a jungle hike, a night safari and even cave exploring. Our guide knew so much about the environment and could spot the wild life from miles away. We learned a lot about surviving in the jungle and the animals that lived there. During the first safari, we even spotted a group of wild elephants with a young calf. It was amazing.

Back at the camp dinner got served. The food was great and the atmosphere was so nice with all the wonderful people we had just met that same morning. It almost felt like a dream.

Day 3

The next day, we had one more safari in the early morning. You are free to join all the excursions, so if you are not a morning person this would probably be the time to sleep in! We did go on the safari, and it was magical. The whole jungle was still asleep. The mist lowered over the lake and we glided through the water with our engine off. So cool!

After the safari we had lunch on our way back to Khao Sok village, afterwards it was time to get back to Our Jungle Camp. Here we could reflect on the overwhelming experience of Khao Sok National Park. We were lucky enough to sleep one more night in our treehouse.

We will never forget about this experience, which is for sure in our top 5 of things to do when you are visiting Asia. Make sure to book your stay at Our Jungle Camp for an amazing experience!
