History
This all began in the 1960s when Richard Sandler, a young American, traded the skyscrapers of New York for the lush jungles of Khao Sok. As an ecotourism pioneer, he has spent decades creating a green, authentic alternative to mass tourism. Guests don’t come to Our Jungle Resorts to chill but to immerse themselves in true family adventures. During your two- or three-night stay, you can enjoy guided hikes to stunning waterfalls, visit elephant sanctuaries, face giant spiders on a night safari, go tubing or rafting, and marvel at the wildlife around Cheow Lan Lake, all without a plastic slide or loud music. Here, nature sets the tone!

A Jungle Camp Dedicated to Children
Parents can relax knowing that everything is taken care of. Food is available around the clock, and the excursions are expertly organized. The resorts are especially family-friendly, offering a "Jungle Life Camp" where children can enjoy activities with loving caregivers while parents treat themselves to a massage or challenging trek. Excursions can be tailored to young children. This means the whole family can dive into the jungle and enjoy a stress-free adventure.
Backpacking with Amenities
Crafted from local materials, the treehouses and bungalows are simple yet offer an open, airy feel. The child-friendly team ensures comfort. Services like full board, massage, yoga, and jungle childcare are all available.

Green, Greener, Greenest
The resorts aren’t just surrounded by greenery; the heart of its operations is green too.
- Intentionally kept small - each resort has around twenty rooms
- Serve food from the on-site farm
- The staff are mostly from the local area.
Mr. Sandler’s ecotourism model, which began long before the term became popular, ensures that local children can even participate in the Jungle Life Camp for free.
Jungle Life Camp for Children
In the middle of the jungle, your children can be taken care of at the ‘Jungle Life Camp’. There are no televisions or plastic slides here. Instead, for a small fee, children venture into the jungle with supervisors, learn to build shelters, create nature art, or identify insects.

Farm-to-Table: 0-Kilometer Food
Much of the food at the resorts comes directly from the in-house farm. Familiar burgers and fries are available, while Thai cuisine lovers can indulge in classics like Pad Thai. Homegrown exotic fruits make a fine dessert.

Choosing Between Two Resorts
The resorts are just a 200-meter stroll apart and you are free to wander between them.
Our Jungle Camp:
- Closer to the jungle edge
- More family-oriented
- Larger rooms
- On-site farm
- Deeper in the jungle.
- Offers a more adventurous atmosphere.
A Child-Friendly Jungle Experience
- Sleep in one of the oldest rainforests in the world
- Enjoy night hikes in bat caves
- Spot wild elephants
- Tube down the Sok River
The jungle’s stunning beauty and well-established infrastructure make these adventures suitable for families. Swimming in the river is safe, and experienced guides lead all tours, ensuring even children can join in the fun.

The Jungle Environment
Be aware:
- The treehouses and bungalows are not fully sealed.
- WiFi can be unreliable.
- Air conditioning is not available
- Fans are provided.
In the jungle, expect high humidity, heat, and the occasional insect visit. For some, this adds to the charm, while for others, it might be a bit overwhelming.
Nature is Busy – You Won’t Be Alone
Khao Sok National Park has become a popular travel destination, so you won’t be alone on your tours. However, Our Jungle Resorts’ owner is working to manage the tourist flows and make additional parts of the jungle accessible to sustainable tourism.
Cheow Lan Lake Accommodations Are Basic
A trip to the stunning Cheow Lan Lake
with its limestone cliffs is a must-do. However, accommodations there don’t match the comfort level of ‘Our Jungle Resorts’. The nature experience makes it worthwhile, but expectations for comfort and service should be adjusted for an overnight stay.
Peak and Off-Peak Seasons for Families
During peak season, a family of four can expect to pay between €240 and €380 per night, including accommodation, full board, and activities such as caving, rafting, and night hikes. Off-season rates drop to around €100 to €145 for families with babies. Babies stay free, and a crib costs €10 per night. However, trips to Cheow Lan Lake are not recommended for babies.
Jungle Activities for Everyone
Families of all sizes will find suitable accommodation at both resorts. From treehouses to jungle bungalows for larger families. The resorts offer an all-inclusive experience with delicious Thai and Western cuisine.
Jungle Life – What Will You Find?
- Monkeys
- Otters
- Elephants
- Lizards
- Frogs
- Spiders
- Beetles
- Cicadas
- Grasshoppers
These are all part of the jungle's ecosystem. You’ll likely spot monkey families playing near the river and hear the jungle’s nightly concert as you fall asleep. The Klong Sok River, running past both resorts, is perfect for swimming.

Sustainability at the Core
The resorts place a strong emphasis on sustainability.
- Built from local materials and without energy-intensive air conditioning. We rely on the jungle to regulate temperature.
- About 95% of the food is grown on-site, and all jams and welcome drinks are homemade.
