Koh Samui to Khao Sok
Travel information on getting to and from Koh Samui
If you are going from Koh Samui to Khao Sok you are in for a great journey. It will involve a 1.5-hour ferry across part of the Gulf of Thailand. You will drive down to the ferry and on the other side have a great road trip through the verdant forests of Surat Thani province. We will share transport options to help you choose the best route. The same goes for the reverse trip from Khao Sok to Koh Samui.
The Ferry
The ferry service is run by 3 companies:
- Seatran Ferry
- Raja Ferry
- Lomprayah High Speed Ferries
The car ferry crossing takes around 1.5 hrs. You can book express crossings also.
Some ferry companies offer inclusive ferry and van transport to Surat Thani
By Bus
There are no direct buses from Koh Samui to Khao Sok. You can only start your bus journey once you land on the mainland. From there you can take a bus to the Surat Thani bus terminal. Here ‘Phantip Travel’ and ‘465 Surat Thani Phuket Transport’ run regular bus services to Khao Sok about every hour.
You will be dropped off at the Khao Sok van station. There you will find local taxis to bring you to Our Jungle House for around 80 baht per person.
The journey time is around 7 - 8 hours, but you get to see a bit more of the country and witness more of the local culture.
By Shared Van
A popular option is to go by shared van. Your hotel will probably be able to book you an all-inclusive shared van and ferry ticket all the way to Khao Sok. The journey will take between 6 – 8 hours.
There are various online options for shared van tickets.
By Taxi
Private Taxi transfers are available. All-inclusive prices will be between 5 – 6000 baht. This is not a bad option if you are travelling as a family or small group, and the journey time is only around 5-6 hours.
Getting from Khao Sok to Koh Samui
The first thing to note is that you will require transport from Our Jungle House to the local Khao Sok van station if you are travelling by public transport or shared van. Just let our reception know and they can arrange everything for you.
